CHEVALLIER, Olivia

1855 - 1926

Olivia Chevallier was born at Rushmere St Andrew, near Ipswich on 14 April 1855 and baptised on 17 June 1855, daughter of Clement Chevallier (1819-20 January 1892), and his wife Jane Susanna Harmer (1819-23 January 1922), who died aged 102, eldest daughter of Capt. Samuel Fielding Harmer, R.N., of Mettingham, Suffolk, who married at South Cove, Suffolk on 25 February 1851. Olivia was a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club in 1879 and in 1883 she exhibited a sculpture ‘Water Lily’ (583a) and a 'Persian Plaque' (588a). She married at Rushmere, Ipswich in 1885, Revd John Mayhew Clarkson (1852-16 June 1912) and in 1901, Olivia was the 45-year-old wife of 49-year-old clergyman John Clarkson, living at The Street, Brington-with-Bythorne, Huntingdonshire with three of their five children, Olivia Chevallier 14, Lorina Susanna 12 and Thomas Chevallier 2. Her husband, who was rector of Brington-with-Bythorne and Old Weston, died in 1912, aged 60 and Olivia Clarkson died at Trimley St Mary, Felixstowe, Suffolk on 17 March 1926, aged 70.
